Cranleigh held a very successful leaving party for Coach Chris Chapman on 24 March – pictured with him are tennis members, Coaches and some of the juniors and adults who have benefiited from his coaching over the last 5 years. We all wish him well.

Chris Chapman Surprise Party Chris Chapman has been a member and Tennis Coach at Cranleigh for a long time. Chris is moving on from Easter and we would like to have a gathering at Cranleigh on 24th March from 7.30pm to give Chris a good send off and show our appreciation for all the work he has put in when representing our teams and coaching our adults and juniors. This year Cranleigh will be hosting its much-loved Finals Weekend of the summer tournament on Saturday 25th July and Sunday 26th July. It’s a great event for all the family and, weather permitting, there will be a BBQ.The draw will be done about six weeks before Finals Weekend and the players will arrange to play each other up until the final. Details of how to sign up will go up later, but please keep the date if you are interested.Categories will include men’s, women’s, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, veterans’, veterans’ doubles and boys and girls junior categories.

Cranleigh is pleased to announce we will be hosting a race night on Saturday the 14th March at 7 30, in aid of local children’s charity Jigsaw4u Tickets include a light buffet and there is a fully licensed bar. Tickets costs 5 pounds for adults and 3 for children and can be bought from the club, Lisa at Jigsaw4u (8687 1384) or Chris Roe (0775 3104478). You can also ‘buy’ a horse for £3- if you do this in advance, your horse’s name will appear on the programme. All owners of winning horses will win a prize on the night and there is also a raffle. The club is located 6 mins walk from Morden Underground. 10 mins from Morden Road Tram.  

The tennis courts will be open as usual throughout the Christmas period from 9am – 10pm. if you need the floodlights on evenings when the bar is closed, let me know and I will do my best to assist. You should recently have received an email from the LTA asking you to ‘opt in’ to the Wimbledon Ticket ballot if you wish to be considered for Wimbledon tickets next Summer. You also need to check that you are linked to Cranleigh LT&SC – not Cranleigh in Surrey for instance or anywhere else in the country. PLEASE OPT IN TO THE BALLOT via the LTA website – EVEN IF YOU DON’T WANT A TICKET AS IT AFFECTS OUR ALLOCATION OF TICKETS. It doesn’t mean you have to buy a ticket if you don’t want to. It is good for the Club to have as many British Tennis Members as possible, as we then get a higher allocation of tickets, so please encourage your friends to sign up and link themselves to Cranleigh. If you are a member of Cranleigh LT&SC, either a player or a social member or a parent of a child who is a member and receives coaching at Cranleigh LT&SC we like you to be more involved.   You would have received an email about the parents meeting and how we are a club run by volunteers and would like to have some extra help to run YOUR CLUB.   On Tuesday 21st October at 7.30pm we will have another meeting to discuss ideas and put an action plan together on how we can move the club forward and it would be great if you could attend and maybe offer some ideas to enhance the use of the club and add some social events. Dear All, back by popular demand, Dick Bywaters will be running a quiz to help raise funds for local Children’s Charity Jigsaw4u and the Lifeboats – RNLI. Saturday – December 6 from 7.30 – 10.30pm (prompt start 7.45) Fish & chips at 8.30pm. Bring a team of six or sign up on the list in the bar and we will put you in a group. Cost: £10 – must be paid for within a week of adding your name to the list to secure your places. Tickets from the bar staff.  Last time, it was a complete sell out and a really good evening. Cranleigh is proud to announce we are having our first Grade 6 Tournament at the club on the 1st and 2nd November. This will bring more players to the club and put us on the map but I would like to see as many players from Cranleigh competing. South East Club Tour – Cranleigh LTSC – 12U. Tournament code: SUR14W5515. If your child is 10.5-12.5 years of age they can enter this competition.
