Cranleigh coach wins Aegon Coach of the Month

David Arulanandam has been awarded the Aegon Coach of the Month for August in recognition for his work in Merton, Surrey. David was rewarded largely for his work at Tamworth Recreation Ground, where he has established repeatedly high attendance record every weekend at his Mini Tennis sessions.

His nominator and Ambassador & Development Officer for the charity Tennis For Free, Neil Kapoor, said: “He has been able to create a sustainable programme for many reasons, but one striking aspect of David’s personality is the special emotional connection he has developed with the parents and children, many of whom come from underprivileged backgrounds.”

David said: “I am profoundly honoured, thrilled and also privileged to receive the Aegon Coach of the Month award. I would like to thank everyone, parents and coaches, who recommended me for this award and also provided continued support and guidance to deliver these tennis coaching sessions to our local community every week for nearly eight years.

“I’d also like to thank Paul Jessop, CE of Tennis for Free, and Neil Kapoor, Tennis for Free Ambassador & Site Development Officer, for their professional and moral support. Without their continued support and guidance we wouldn’t have achieved what we have achieved so far within our community in Merton.”
